Bridges On The Tyne

NORTH TYNE - FORESTRY BRIDGE

A little over half a mile north of Kielder village a forestry road turns off to the right and crosses the Tyne on a low concrete bridge. It leads both to the forest to the west and to a farm building named Lightpipe 500 yards off the main road. Some trees line the river bank and the hills stretch away into the distance. The nearby sawmill at Kielder closed some years ago and the work is now carried out in Scotland. Lorries laden with timber are a feature of the roads near Kielder.
