Bridges On The Tyne

SOUTH TYNE - FOOTBRIDGE ONE

Another footbridge, at the end of a path leading from the main road via Dryburn farm, gives access to the footpath on the north side of the river. It is in sheep country, crossed by the South Tyne Trail from Alston to Garrigill and beyond and is also on the Pennine Way. A simple bridge supported on concrete piers with steps up and a gate at one end. The riverbank path has many stiles and is in excellent walking country and the hills rise quite steeply on each side of the river.
