Bridges On The Wear

BELL'S BRIDGE

A farm bridge giving access to houses on the south side of the Wear and to several footpaths from Burtreeford, it is fairly narrow and constructed of wood. Nearby is the flooded Copthill whinstone quarry, opened in 1895 by a local innkeeper and finally closed in 1943, see picture below.
