Bridges On The Wansbeck

KIRKWHELPINGTON FARM BRIDGE

Just beyond the A696 bridge a farm track leads from the main road going north, down to the river which is crossed by a simple concrete bridge at a low level. The river flows through a series of tubes apparently formed from a large solid concrete block, the roadway being laid over the top. The river is narrow here and the track climbs away up the hill on the north side to Horncastle Farm. A number of small streams feed the Wansbeck west of here.
